Banff Springs Hotel
Banff Springs Hotel in Banff National Park, in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Built by the Canadian Pacific Railway CPR in 1888 to encourage tourists to travel their transcontinental routes. The hotel was designated a national historic site in 1988 because of it being a leading Canadian example of a large-scale, resort hotel in a natural setting. The hotel sits within the Rocky Mountains mountain range at 4,639 ft above sea level.
