Like the Chinese Pineapple bun, the Hong Kong Mexican bun is a favorite staple at Chinese dim sum. The Hong Kong Mexican bun, looks like a Chinese Pineapple bun, or the Mexican concha bun that you would find at a Mexican bakery. But actually, the bun didn t originate in Mexico but in Hong Kong or Macau by Chinese-Mexicans kicked out of Mexico in the 1930s. The Mexican concha bread most likely spur Chinese-Mexicans longing to return to Mexico to invent a Hong Kong version of the Mexican concha bun.
