Washington, DC - September 20, 2023: The statue of Thomas Jefferson was sculpted in France by Pierre-Jean David d’Angers and cast by Honoré Gonon and Sons using the lost-wax technique. On March 21, 1834, the statue was placed in the center of the Capitol Rotunda, and to its present location in the Rotunda in 1900.

Wasshington, DC - September 20, 2023: The monument was presented to the U.S. Capitol as a gift from the women of the United States by the National Woman's Party and was accepted on behalf of Congress by the Joint Committee on the Library on February 10, 1921. The designer was Adelaide Johnson.
