Close up of red tubular flowers of the firecracker plant
The Firecracker plant (Russelia equisetiformis), also known as the Coral plant or Fountain plant, is a fast growing warm weather perennial small shrub. It produces inch-long bright red flowers that resemble small firecrackers. The Firecracker plant is faily easy to grow but requires cutting back to keep it from spreading out of control. The friecracker plant can be grown in baskets indoors and in window boxes and containers outdoors. The plant is a great additional to a butterfly or hummingbird garden. The plant prefers sun to partial shade. With at least four hours of sunlight, the Firecracker plant will bloom straight through the year.
