Seedhead of Dipsacus fullonum common teasel. Common teasel is a native of Europe and northern Africa. The invasive plant may have been accidentally introduced to the United States in the 1700 s with other varieties of teasel, such as the cutleaf teasel used in the textile industry, and has since spread from coast to coast.
