Volcanic rock stacked atop existing boulders form an exterior cliff dwelling wall that runs along the side of of a high desert promentory. The Sinagua Indian tribe that selected this site did so for its easily defensible position. Below the wall is a sheer cliff dropping to a long steep hill that descends to a dry riverbed - allowing no access from that side. This wall includes small portals where rocks were omitted so that arrows could be fired through them, permitting concealment from enemy attack. The wall has contains a narrow opening for egress, and the climb to safe level terrain is difficult. Site selection was critical for the Sinagua, and perfectly executed here. This culture combined hunting and gathering with agriculture, but the latter was challenging in this arrid wilderness terrain. The exact site location, which requires considerable effort to reach, is intentionally omitted. Its estimated age dates to 1300 AD - 1400 AD.
