Southern state freshwater wetland forest on a on a sunny day in early spring (April 11). The image was captured in Big Creek, Forsyth, (near Cumming) in Georgia (USA) with a full frame mirrorless digital camera and a sharp telephoto lens, resulting in large clean files and images with shallow depth-of-field. The image is part of a large series of Georgia wetland at different seasons.

Photograph of five tree stumps--one large and in-focus to the left of the image; a near identical pair of smaller and less in-focus on the right; and two even smaller stumps dead center and half in-focus. The photo's angle gives the audience a clear view of the larger stump's various tree rings, many of which are broken with weather and wear, and what appears to be a jagged hole in the center where all the rings originate. Green moss clings to the bit of tree trunk visible from the larger stump and the two centered in the shot while the pair on the right look more brown and unmossed. Twigs, broken branches, dead leaves, and other such debris surround the row of tree stumps and three cut logs, similar in size to the pair of stumps, crown the image from the top right and left corners. Meanwhile, some green clovers sprout stubbornly from the earth in the top right corner and contrast the otherwise decaying landscape.
