I am of the belief that there is a thick, blurry line between “fine art, ” such as painting and sculpture, and photography. We photographers may not use our hands directly to create art, but we still use our eyes, minds, and hearts. A beautiful photograph can be just as emotional, and make just as strong a statement as a piece in any other medium.

Regardless of subject matter, I try to capture emotion in my photography. I prefer to find the beauty that is already there, as opposed to creating an artistic composition by moving objects and changing lighting. I look for dramatic light, and engaging angles. I want the viewer to feel something when they look at my photographs. Whether it is the same as what I felt when taking it, or if everyone feels something different, if my art speaks to the heart of even just one person, then I have accomplished my goal as an artist.
